Hi snercis,

Light passes through the cornea then the pupil (which is the hole in the iris, formed by contraction of the muscles in the iris) and is then focussed by the lens to shine onto the retina. The fovea is that region of the retina where the light is focussed and it contains the highest concentration of cone cells to exploit that.

Cheers,

Rich
