Can someone help me with these topics... so I’m on top of that fuel vaporization is the fuel breaking down from liquid to vapor while passing through the fuel lines...
so what is a vapor lock?
Or have I imagined a vapor lock... coz I can’t find where I read it now :()
Vapour locking is simply the result of fuel vaporization. Fuel turns to vapour in the lines (or sometimes inside the fuel pump), the pump can no longer pump the fuel efficiently because fuel vapour is compressible where as liquid fuel is not. When the pump tries to push the fuel through the lines, the vapour simply compresses instead of moving through the fuel lines.
Vaporization is the cause, vapour locking is the result.
It is most likely to occur when the engine and fuel lines are hot and the demand for power is high, such as the second or third take-off from a high strip on a very hot day.
