AGK 5.15

Kinetic Energy = 1/2mv[sup]2[/sup]

If the parcel of air were moving at 100kt at sea-level, the dynamic pressure it possessed would be about 16hPa

At sea level and at 15 °C, air has a density of approximately 1.225 kg/m
100kts = 51.444m/s

Therefore: 1/2(1.225 x 51.444[sup]2[/sup]) = 1621Pa
And then dividing by 100? I would achieve 16hPa

Sorry guys, I've edited this post because as i've written it here I've worked it out and edited accordingly.
Was trying to figure this out yesterday and had a cloudy head by the end of it.

Thanks for the edit Calmay and thanks for sharing your working with the rest of the forum. Much appreciated!

Cheers,

Rich

And then dividing by 100?

Yep. 1 hPa = 100 Pa
