Can you please let me know how to interpret a KDR syllabus reference number?
I've had a look at the CASA link below but still can't deceipher it nor find reference to it in the CASA Day (VFR) Syllabus.

The KDR references are pretty vague and do not give you much insight into the areas you fell down in unfortunately. To decode KDR reference, look at the first digit:
"1" refers to "Block 1" items (p 3-3 in the syllabus) - these are items up to PPL level
"2" refers to "Block 2" items (p 3-21 in the syllabus) - these are items PPL to CPL level
The subsequent digits refer to subitems within those blocks. If a student missed a question on fronts (for example), their KDR would list "2.9.7.1" This would mean Block 2, item 9.7.1 which you can find on page 3-43 in the syllabus.
