I am going to purchase a set of Bobtait CPL text books. Which year do you think is best ?

I'm afraid that, with the rate of change associated with CASA regulations lately, the very latest books would be required, particularly for subjects such as Air Law, Meteorology and Navigation. There have been many changes recently, especially in AIP references. Maybe you should consider getting the e-text version in those subjects since they are continually updated as changes occur.
