Hi guys
This question has probably been asked before but can't seem to find it.
On the casa website it says that the references allowed are CAO's, CAR's etc...
Doesn't say either CAA or CASR but ive came across a few questions where the answer was in CAA or CASR.
So are we allowed the CAA & CASR or there won't be questions on them?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Brock,
The list on the CASA website is definitive and is the list the invigilators use when checking the materials candidates bring into the rooms. There have been recent changes and the CASR's are now part of the permitted materials.
To get it straight from the horse's mouth, here's the quote taken from http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_90074
Important changes
The introduction of CASR Part 61 and associated regulations, has been delayed to 1 September 2014.Coinciding with the introduction of CASR Part 61, now expected on 1 September 2014, a number of pilot theory exams will be affected. CASR Part 61 will become a permitted document (to both the Airservices and Jeppesen lists) for each of the following subjects:
PPLA, PAOS, PPLH, PHOS
CLWA, CLWH
AALW
IREX and PIFR
In addition, the current AFR1 exam (required to become a Grade 1 aeroplane instructor) will cease to exist and will be replaced with a new Part 61 exam for instructors, Pilot Instructor Rating Exam – Common, the exam code for this new exam will be PIRC.Flight & Duty times. Both “CAO 48.0/48.1 dated 2004” and the new “CAO 48.1 Instrument 2013” are current documents and may be used in exams where CAOs are permitted. As a transition period exists in relation to these CAOs until 30 April 2016, questions may be asked relating to either in CASA exams. Where appropriate, a comment may be placed with a question to guide the candidate as to which version of CAOs the question is examining. After 30 April 2016, the 2004 version of CAO 48.0/48.1 will be repealed and no longer used for any flight and duty time questions.
The current 'window' definition of a three-year rolling window will remain in effect until the introduction of CASR Part 61 when it will change to the ‘two-year rolling window’ required by Part 61.
The Pre-qualification for Helicopter pilots has been amended removing the requirements to hold:a pass in BAK(H) has been removed from the PPLH exam; and
either a BAK(H) pass or a PP(H)L licence for each of the following CPL exams, CNAV, CHUF, CMET, CADH, CSYH, CFPH and CLWH.
The page with this quote also has the lists of materials permitted for the various exams.
Cheers,
Rich
