Hi All
I have a question about Revision Test 1 Q42 page 5.5 in Bob Tait book:

It says:
For VFR passenger carrying charter flight over water in a single engine aircraft, the distance between land areas suitable for an emergency landing shall be no greater than:
a) 30 min at normal cruise TAS
b) 25nm
c) 50nm
d) No restriction applies for VFR overwater flight

The reference is given: AIP ENR 1.1 para 62.2 & CAR 258 (1)

in AIP this paragraph says 25nm and i selected answer b) however the correct answer is c) 50nm.

Could you please point me in right direction?

Thanks

Yes the AIP does say 25nm from a land mass. So if you did an over water flight of 50nm, you would never be more than 25 miles from land. At the half way point land would be 25nm behind you and also 25nm ahead................tricky eh???
